Google Ads case study - retail campaign restructure that reached 4.6x return on ad spend

The challenge

A retail brand was spending on Google Ads with weak intent matching, overlapping campaigns and landing pages that leaked conversions. Spend went up, but profitable growth did not.

Google Ads · Landing Pages · CRO · Analytics

The approach

Restructured campaigns around high-intent queries, cleaned keywords and negatives, rebuilt landing pages for message match, then ran structured tests on offers, forms and page speed.

How it was done

  1. Campaign restructure by intent. Overlapping campaigns were merged and rebuilt around high-intent, ready-to-buy searches.
  2. Keywords and negatives. Wasted spend was cut with tighter match types and a strong negative keyword list.
  3. Landing pages with message match. Landing pages were rebuilt so each ad led to a page that matched the search and the offer.
  4. Structured testing. Offers, forms and page speed were tested in a planned sequence, keeping only the changes that lifted ROAS.

The results

  • 4.6× return on ad spend
  • Lower cost per conversion on core products
  • Clear testing loop that kept ROAS improving
